Reise Rhodes Full Gauntlet Touring Gloves
The Rhodes is Reise's full gauntlet touring glove - goat leather, a long cuff that seals under a jacket sleeve, and armour in the places a hand actually meets the road. It is a considerable step up from a mesh commuter glove, and it asks for that in heat: this is a glove for highway miles and cold mornings, not for crawling through August traffic.
Protection is layered rather than token. Dual-density TPU sits over the knuckles, TPU sliders on the palm, and there is a pinky finger bridge - a small link between the last two fingers that stops the little finger being levered backwards in a slide. It is the sort of detail that only appears once a manufacturer has looked at real crash injuries.
If you want something cooler for daily commuting, the Strada is the mesh short-cuff alternative.
Key Features
-
Dual-Density TPU Knuckle Armour
Two densities so the shell spreads the hit and the layer beneath absorbs it. -
TPU Palm Sliders
Let the hand skate rather than grab at the tarmac. -
Pinky Finger Bridge
Links the last two fingers to guard against the little finger breaking in a slide. -
Dual-Density Wrist Sliders
On the outer wrist, the first point of contact in most falls. -
TPU Finger Protectors
Double as intake vents for airflow. -
Premium Goat Leather
Supple from new and hard-wearing, with dual-layer reinforcement on the side of the hand and pinky. -
Cordura Stretch Panels
Between thumb and floating knuckle, so the glove moves with the hand. -
Accordion Flex Panels
At the knuckle and thumb joints for finger mobility. -
Reinforced Side-Hand Padding
Dual layers of leather where the hand lands.

FAQs
Q: Is this a summer glove?
Not really. Leather with a full gauntlet is warm by design. It comes into its own on the highway and in winter. For city summer riding use a mesh glove.
Q: Is it waterproof?
No. Leather resists a shower but the Rhodes has no waterproof membrane. For monsoon touring look at the Nubra.
Q: What is the pinky bridge for?
It ties the last two fingers together so the little finger cannot be bent backwards independently during a slide - a common and awkward riding fracture.
Q: Does the gauntlet go over or under the jacket sleeve?
Over, in most cases. That is the point of the length - it stops the cuff opening in a crash.
Q: How should it fit when new?
Snug, with no bunching in the palm. Goat leather relaxes slightly with use, so a glove that is loose from new will only get looser.
Local Buying Guide
Most riders in India own one pair of gloves and compromise all year. If you tour, a second leather gauntlet pair alongside a mesh commuter pair is the sensible split - each is genuinely better at its job than any all-rounder.
