The Oxus is Viaterra's compact tank bag - the one for riders who want documents, phone and wallet within reach and nothing more. It is the smallest of the range and the least intrusive on the bike.

As with the rest of the tank bag range, the decision is the mounting. Magnetic drops on and lifts off instantly but requires a steel fuel tank. Universal straps work on any tank, including the plastic tanks and shrouds fitted to most modern adventure and naked motorcycles.

Compact does not mean an afterthought. Because it sits low and small, the Oxus stays clear of your arms in traffic and does not block the view to the instrument cluster - the two complaints riders most often have about larger tank bags on smaller motorcycles.

Q: Magnetic or universal - which should I pick?
Magnetic mounts instantly and comes off in one movement, but it needs a steel fuel tank. If your motorcycle has a plastic tank or plastic tank shrouds - most modern adventure and many naked bikes - magnets will not hold and you need the universal strap version. If you are unsure, tell us your model and we will check.

Q: Will magnets scratch my tank?
Keep the tank and the bag base clean. Grit trapped underneath is what marks paint, not the magnets themselves. Wipe both before fitting, especially after a dusty ride.

Q: Can I switch mounting types later?
They are separate bags rather than a swappable base, so choose based on your tank material. Riders with more than one motorcycle often go universal for the flexibility.
